The meeting at Kwankwaso’s Miller Road residence included Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Senator Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State, activist Naajatu Mohammed, and other prominent figures. The gathering has sparked speculation about a potential political realignment, including suggestions that Kwankwaso may consider moving from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).Nigerian political news

Addressing a large crowd during the annual Kwankwassiya Sallah festival, Obi said his visit was primarily to celebrate the festival and pay respect to Kwankwaso, while also emphasizing his broader vision for Kano’s economic and industrial revival.

“I’m here to felicitate with you on the occasion of Sallah and to pay my respect to our leader. So thank you,” Obi said. “We want to change Kano. We want to build a new Kano. What we want to do is bring back the power of Kano—all those factories in Bompai, Sharada 1, Sharada 2, Bank of the North—we want to bring all of them back. Today is not politics; it is the celebration of Sallah.”

The event highlighted efforts by Obi and his allies to reconnect with northern states, signal their commitment to economic revival, and strengthen ties with established political figures in the region.

Kwankwaso, who hosted the gathering, welcomed the dignitaries and expressed his joy at seeing leaders and supporters unite in the festive spirit of the occasion.
