Blackout in Lagos, Abuja, others as national grid collapses again

The national grid suffered a collapse around 11:34am on Wednesday, throwing Nigerians into a blackout. According to the discos, the collapse affected the power supply to the areas under their jurisdiction.

IKEDC wrote on X: “Please be informed that we experienced a system outage today 12th February, 2025 at 11:34hrs affecting all our feeders.”

IBEDC wrote, “Kindly be informed that due to a breaker fault at Odongunyan 132/33kv TCN Station which affected the Ogijo 33kv feeder, customers in Ogijo Town and environs are currently experiencing power outage. We are closely monitoring the situation with our partners in the electricity value chain and will keep you updated.”

The AEDC, however, noted that efforts to restore are ongoing.

“While gradual restoration of power supply has commenced, please be assured that we are working closely with relevant stakeholders to fully restore electricity as soon as the grid is stabilised.”

Meanwhile, the message and calls from our correspondent to the phone of the Spokesperson of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, Ndidi Mbah, got no response.

In 2024, Nigeria recorded a string of power disruptions and blackouts arising from multiple incidents of national grid collapses.
Before this collapse, the most recent occurred on December 11.
