While noting that the formation of the group came after due consultation, he explained that, “Our elders agreed with us. They gave us their support to go ahead with mobilisation of people for active political participation.
“We are inaugurating this group also to cater for the welfare of the people by ensuring delivery of dividends of democracy,” he said.
He said no politician was sponsoring the group arguing that APC is the number one choice in Mainland and the state, and the group aimed to improve its popularity.
He lamented that the group had over the years suffered neglect in the scheme of things in the state.
“These people are a new set of people that we are just grooming into politics and to better their welfare.”
He however expected a turnaround in fortunes saying, “We are sure that with the support of our notable elders in the local government, we will be able to attract democratic dividends to the area.”
While saying the group was created to also promote peaceful coexistence among all interest groups in the area, he added, “We are against the politics of bitterness and thuggery in the area. We are members of APC and we are for peaceful conduct.”
On his part, the General Secretary of the group, Kola Atanda, said no fewer than 850 residents registered and expressed solidarity for the group’s cause.
Some of the group’s leaders in attendance include Prince Abiodun Okanlomo, Mr Oluwagbenga Ogunleye, Mr Segun Davies, Mrs Bose Benson, Mr Mumuni Koro, Chief Nurudeen Otunbade and Alhaja Aishat Jawando. Tinubu is into a second year as president having been inaugurated on May 29, 2023.
