Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso has said he never expected to be betrayed by the Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, who recently dumped the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking with BBC Hausa, Kwankwaso stated that Yusuf will regret his decision to dump the NNPP.

He also stated that Yusuf should forget about getting re-elected because he lost such bid the moment he was endorsed by his predecessor, former Governor Umar Ganduje.

“We never expected this kind of betrayal from Governor Abba. He will regret his decision. The moment Ganjude raises his hand, he has already lost the election. Let him first say we didn’t allow him to govern, we will give him an answer,” said Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano.

“Injustice. In my entire life, I cannot remember where such a thing has ever been done before,” Kwankwaso said in Hausa.

“It would even be better if it was the ADC, something new, they (referring to Yusuf and loyalists) went to. Rather, they took it (mandate) away and handed over to enemies.

“Look at the struggle we went through in 2019, look at the election that became inconclusive, look at the courts.”
