Singer Chidozie Godsfavour Ugochinyere, known professionally as Fave, has hinted that the Ramadan fasting period observed by Muslims may be hindering her from holding her first show in Nigeria.

In a post on X, the singer revealed that her efforts to hold a show during the same period as Ramadan are being discouraged by promoters.

“I started this year wanting to do my first show in Nigeria on my birthday as an independent artiste and back to back, promoters kept sending word to my team saying the same thing. I grew up in the south and never heard of Ramadan practices till I was in my late teens. I respect all religion. But I’m Christian and I really want to do this on my birthday so if you’re reading this and are open to organize, I’d be so happy,” she said.

Reacting, a netizen, @bissiriyu, said, “I still don’t understand the reason for this rant. It is not that the people or the government stopped you from going ahead with your show. Why are you now gaslighting the Muslims for not attending shows during Ramadan?
It is simply a business strategy. Nigeria does not belong to the Christians alone. The only region you can have a successful show that will rake in money for you during Ramadan is the Southeast. Why don’t you go to your region to have your show? Why are you people always crying victimisation when there’s none?”

@Kakanfo_ said, “Promoters want to reap profit from the show too. If they do it during Ramadan and the Muslims do not show up, they will have less people purchase your tickets and it could lead to low sales. That’s why some are usually reluctant. It’s early why food canteens have lower sales.”

@Real_AmakaIke said, “Ramadan has no hindrance whatever here in the South. Especially the South East, Port Harcourt, and Lagos. So come on, we are here for you.”

@Yhur1stLuV said, “I love you Fave but sometimes you move in a weird way. Have you heard of Phyno Fest happening in Enugu in April? You have a mgt right ? Nigeria is not an islamic nation so they should change the location to another place in Nigeria. All these whining here on X is not the best approach.”
