The Nigerian social media space is buzzing following a heated confrontation between nightlife influencer Yhemo Lee and food critic Opeyemi Franklin.
The dispute erupted after Opeyemi posted a critical review of a perfume brand belonging to Yhemo Lee’s wife, Thayour, leading to a series of scathing posts from the nightlife king.
Yhemo Lee didn’t hold back, taking tohis Instagram stories to vent his frustrations and defend his wife’s brand against what he perceives as a “malicious” review.
One of the most shocking revelations from Yhemo Lee’s rebuttal was the claim that Opeyemi had previously asked for a staggering 6 million naira to conduct a professional video review when the perfume was first launched.
According to Yhemo Lee, the marketing team declined the offer. He suggested that Opeyemi’s current negative review is a bitter reaction to not getting paid the initial fee.
“Her marketing team reached out to you… you charged 6m. So if dem actually don pay you the 6m na wetin for comot for your mouth be this??” Yhemolee questioned.
Yhemolee emphasized that despite the negative review, the business is thriving. He noted that the specific perfume Opeyemi “degraded” is actually the brand’s best-seller, having sold over 1,000 bottles and sold out twice.
He criticized the reviewer’s approach, stating that if Opeyemi truly “loved” the brand as he claimed in his video, he would have shared his “honest cents” privately in a DM to help them improve, rather than “misleading” the public online.
The posts were peppered with intense personal jabs, with Yhemolee labeling Opeyemi a “fat fool” and “bitter.”
He concluded his rant by advising the critic to “Try own a business first make you see your life flash for your eyes,” highlighting the stress and effort that goes into building a brand from scratch.
