Troops of Operation HADIN KAI, in coordination with local vigilantes and hunters, have neutralised a former hybrid Boko Haram commander, Abdullahi Mafa, in the Madagali area of Zamfara State. In a separate operation, troops arrested a suspected drone and logistics supplier for the terrorists, Dauda Usman Gubula, during a raid at Madagali Motor Park.
According to security expert Zagazola Makama, troops engaged suspected Boko Haram fighters in an ambush along the Visik River line, leading to Mafa’s elimination. Items recovered from Gubula included two aerial drones and 20 solar power banks. The suspect is currently in custody, under investigation as troops intensify operations to dismantle Boko Haram networks and restore security in the region.
Key Points:
The elimination of a key commander disrupts Boko Haram’s operational command structure in the North-West.
Arresting a drone supplier degrades the terrorists’ surveillance and attack capabilities.
Local communities gain relief, while the military demonstrates the effectiveness of coordinated operations.
This signals the military’s expanding counter-insurgency footprint beyond the North-East.
The timing, with recovered drones, shows evolving terrorist tactics requiring adaptive responses.
Troops continue mop-up operations as investigations proceed on the arrested drone supplier, aiming to dismantle broader terrorist logistics networks.
