The trial of Adeniyi Kayode, driver of the crashed SUV conveying boxer Anthony Joshua, has been adjourned to April 16, 2026, by a Sagamu magistrate’s court. Prosecutor R.D. Kadiri requested additional time to incorporate fresh information, prompting defence counsel Abiodun Olalekan to accuse the prosecution of “delay tactics.”

This marks the third adjournment since proceedings began, following previous delays for evidence gathering and case file duplication. Joshua survived the December 29, 2025, accident with minor injuries, but his close associates Kevin Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami died.

Key Points”

Repeated adjournments frustrate the delivery and delay closure for families of deceased victims.
Defence’s accusation of “delay tactics” raises concerns about the prosecution’s preparedness and intentions.
The case has lingered for nearly three months since the fatal December 2025 accident.
Families of the deceased await accountability while legal processes drag on.
The delays could undermine public confidence in the judicial system’s handling of high-profile cases.

The court must ensure the April 16 date is final, allowing both sides to present their cases without further prolongation.
