However, IPOB has quickly dismissed the claim, labeling the video as fake and created using Artificial Intelligence (AI). In an official statement, the group clarified that the video was manipulated, stressing that Donald Trump had not made such a request.
“The video, as seen in the attached screenshot, is AI-generated. Disregard the AI-generated clip of Trump ordering Tinubu to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu,” the statement read:
While reaffirming their call for Kanu’s release, IPOB urged its members and the public to be vigilant and avoid spreading false information. The group specifically criticized Simon Ekpa, a self-styled “Prime Minister” of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile, accusing him and his followers of fabricating and disseminating the misleading video.

“While we seek the release of our leader, IPOB members must distance themselves from Ekpa and his Autopilot faction that is pushing this fake video. It is not real—avoid it,” IPOB added.
Simon Ekpa, based in Finland, has frequently clashed with IPOB’s leadership, with the group accusing him of undermining their efforts by spreading misinformation and pursuing his own agenda. Despite this, Ekpa continues to advocate for Biafra’s independence and announced in a recent post on X (formerly Twitter) that he had hired U.S.-based lawyer Arman Dabiri to strengthen his legal team ahead of a planned December 2 declaration of Biafra’s independence.
In his announcement, Ekpa wrote: “In preparation for the declaration of the restoration of the Independence of the United States of Biafra and the pursuit for recognition, the Biafra Government is proud to announce to the Biafra people that we have added Arman Dabiri, a very BIG Iroko, to our international legal team.” Ekpa stated that Dabiri would focus on securing U.S. recognition for the proposed Biafra government, while other international lawyers would handle various aspects of the independence effort. He encouraged his supporters to research Dabiri’s credentials to understand the expertise involved in their mission.
