The terrorists attacked the base early Saturday but were overpowered by troops who engaged them with well-coordinated ambushes and an offensive-defensive response, forcing a disorderly withdrawal.

The Air Component provided close air support, and subsequent exploitation along withdrawal routes inflicted further losses. Troops recovered 7 AK-47 rifles, 8 magazines, 4 RPG bombs, and assorted ammunition.
