“Priority 3 focused on boosting agriculture to achieve food security, through the development of commodity value chain and the provision of infrastructure support. Priority 6 focuses on education, health and social investment as essential pillars of development,” Tinubu stated.

The president praised Brazil’s leadership in launching the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty, calling it “a bold and visionary step” to address pressing global challenges.

He remarked, “This initiative offers a comprehensive approach not only to addressing immediate needs but also tackling the structural causes of hunger and poverty.”

Tinubu also reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to joining the Global Alliance, describing it as “a significant step forward” in the nation’s efforts to eradicate poverty.

He noted that this aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 1 on eradicating poverty and SDG 2 on achieving zero hunger.

Nigeria’s participation in the Alliance resonates strongly with these goals, which are at the core of our development agenda,” Tinubu added.

By partnering with international organisations, Tinubu emphasised Nigeria’s intention to “leverage best practices, innovative solutions, and financial support” to combat hunger and poverty effectively.

President Tinubu expressed gratitude to Brazil for inviting Nigeria to the G20 as a guest country, highlighting the historic nature of the summit in Rio de Janeiro.

He concluded, “Nigeria reaffirms its commitment to continue to work with G20 member and guest countries, international organisations, and civil society in the fight against hunger and poverty.”
