He entreats citizens to direct their complaints to the Police Complaints Response Unit, a platform set up to address issues citizens have with the police.
Speaking at the PPROs/Police Communication Experts’ Conference in Asaba, Delta State, on Monday, the IGP explained that using social media to address grievances often leads to misinformation and undermines the integrity of the police force.
“We appeal to the public not to resort to social media when reporting the conduct of police officers but rather to use the Police Complaints Response Unit,” Egbetokun said.
He added that the PCRU is a platform that provides a more structured and accountable process for addressing complaints.
