The new 450-plot estate, located in the same axis as the company’s first development, places strong emphasis on community living, with a unique theme built around four “Fs” — Family, Friendship, Fun, and Football.
At the official launch and groundbreaking ceremony held at the weekend, Chairman of Makarios Properties Limited, Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, explained the vision behind the project.
“We have named this place Makarios Champions’ Place, number one, because of Nigerians’ love for sports, and two, because Makarios wants to present an estate that brings Nigerians together,” he said. “This estate emphasises four ‘Fs’ which stands for family, friendship, fun, and football.”
Pastor Ashimolowo revealed that the estate’s internal streets will be named after English Premier League clubs, with the first street named Chelsea Street, followed by Manchester, Liverpool, Crystal Palace, and others — a total of 14 streets.
The estate will feature The Villagio Apartments — an “estate within an estate.” The company plans to construct 11 buildings, each with 16 to 22 apartments (including studios on the ground floor), offering one, two, and three-bedroom units.
“We are building luxury that is affordable,” Ashimolowo stated. “We give you the price and 24 months to pay with no interest. We are hopeful that by 14 to 18 months, your building will be standing.”
He assured buyers of high construction standards, noting that each five-floor building will be supported by 60 piles.
On power supply, the company plans to use overhead armoured cables and explore solar energy options for individual homes. For sewage management, a modern system that eliminates the need for traditional soakaways will be introduced.
Pastor Ashimolowo emphasised the company’s commitment to excellence, saying his personal reputation and the Makarios brand are at stake.
“We are committed to standard. My name is connected to Makarios,” he said.
The project is expected to attract both local buyers and members of the diaspora, especially with projections that Lagos will become one of the world’s largest cities by 2050.
Makarios Champions’ Place is designed to offer a unique blend of residential plots and modern apartment living in a football-themed, family-oriented environment.
The groundbreaking ceremony included the symbolic laying of foundations for the first four apartment blocks.
