On Nov 20, Baharul Alam, who retired four years ago, was appointed as the IGP. He met the press at a briefing on Thursday.

“I wish those injured in the movement early recoveries. To help the fascist government, some police officers broke the law during the movement and were out of order. Some innocent police officers were also killed. On behalf of the police force, I offer my earnest apology to all the families of those who were killed,” the IGP said at the press briefing.

He said that after Aug 5, the lives and assets of the police force were severely damaged. “With the help of the government, we’re working to regain the pace of police operations. It is very hard to alleviate the current situation without the support and cooperation of the people. I humbly seek everyone’s cooperation.”

Baharul called for the police force to also behave humbly with the people.
