In a post on his social media handle, Melaye claimed that he predicted the downfall of the former governor more than six years ago.
“Six years ago, SDM predicted Yahaya Bello would end up in prison. Today, he will be spending Christmas in Kuje prison. All powers belong to God,” Melaye wrote, referencing his long-standing opposition to the ex-governor.
He shared the video after a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court remanded the former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, in Kuje correctional center over an alleged N110 billion fraud case.
Bello has been under investigation by the EFCC and accused of money laundering. This led Justice Maryann Anenih to adjourn the case for hearings on January 29 and 30, and February 25 and 27, 2025.
The judge previously refused to grant bail to the former governor, stating that the application was filed prematurely.
In her ruling, Justice Maryann Anenih explained that the application was submitted before the first defendant was in custody or present in court, making it invalid.
