The Appropriation Bill titled “Budget of Renewed Hope for a Rising Edo” is estimated at N605 billion, reflecting a 25 percent increase from the 2024 budget.

However, what was supposed to be the standard procedure became a chore for Okpebholo as he struggled multiple times to pronounce the budget’s numerical value.

The video that has gone viral showed the governor stutter. In his first attempt, he said “The Edo State 2025 Appropriation Bill of 6 billion… 650… 605 billion… 76 thou… 76 million…

“Let me take it again. 506 billion… 605 billion… sorry… 776 billion… sorry, it’s confusing me,” he said on his second.

Tenebe downplayed the incident stressing that he also struggles with reading figures noting that the former South African President Jacob Zuma had made similar mistakes.

“I don’t know figures,” Tenebe admitted. “That’s how you know original and innocent people. Governor Okpebholo is not a thief, so he’s not familiar with figures.”

Tenebe took a swipe at Okpebholo’s critics, implying they were corrupt. “Obaseki won’t make such mistakes because he’s stolen billions before.
