Speaking at the last Carnival Dry run which will usher in the biggest street carnival in the next few weeks, the representative of the state governor, Deputy speaker Cross River State Rt Hon sylvester Agabi said “the Governor of Cross River, senator Bassey Otu, has asked me to tell the people of the state that we are in the season of sweetness and nothing more than sweetness will remain in our lips forever.
“We are here to perform a very simple task that we have been doing over the years and I know that this year we shall do exploit. This third dry run welcome our reason for carnival goal, job creation, our shared prosperity; meaning there is something for everyone.
The dry run was a sneak peek into the excitement that awaits revelers at the main carnival event, which is scheduled to hold on December 28. The colourful bands, including Seagull, Passion 4, Masta Blasta, Bayside, Cala Vegas, Diamond, Freedom and other non competing bands, showcased their impressive costumes and choreographed routines, leaving the crowd in awe.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Calabar Carnival Commission, Mr. Gabe Onah, noted that the dry run has continued to be the rehearsal stage to make every year’s event a huge success.
According to Onah “the dry run was a huge success, and the commission has secured two additional sponsors, including Yaga Sport Game. Today we have the Yanga Game Director who have been with us since the second dryrun and with the big challenge from His excellency, the Governor of Cross River State that we must increase the revenue of the state for the tourism sector. So we decided to throw the opportunity open for those who come and sweat to support us for this carnival to go home with something and a N10 million prize had been offer for the platform of Yanga Game.
“We also have the International Energy Insurance (IEI), who we have been working with in the last six months on how we can insure the carnival routes and assure the 50,000 revelers on the 12km carnival route; those who watch and play.”
In his remarks, the Executive Director of Yanga Games, Clement Nyambialso and Yanga Game was its proud of the partnership and it is our dream that the shared prosperity of Cross River will transcend into the life of everyone that comes for the carnival; therefore we have gamified all the carnival activities

Speaking on the insurance and safety of participating bands, the representative of International Energy Insurance, Esheru Osime, said “We are highly privileged and honoured to be part of the carnival and what we are offering is the Group Personal Accident (GPA), in case of any emergency or if you have any accident in the course of this carnival, IEI will take care of the treatment.
