Sambo who served as the special adviser to former president Jonathan on energy said this while speaking at the 12th convocation lecture of the Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete.
Delivering a lecture at the event, Sambo a Professor Emeritus of Faculty of Engineering and Environmental Designs said that the power outages experienced due to the collapse of the national power grid should not be allowed to happen.
According to him, should the national power grid is decentralised, reports of bandits attack on the transmission lines would not leave Nigerians in total darkness.
He urged states across the country to start installing state-wide grids to help establish their electricity markets as provided by Electricity Act 2023.
“All state grids can operate independently such that faults in one state will not affect other states. State grids should be interconnected with the grids of contiguous states,” he noted.
“The Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) TCN says it is only 70% completed, which enables real-time monitoring and control of the grid, allowing operators to detect faults, manage loads effectively and respond to issues swiftly, should be completed as quickly as possible”, Sambo said.Please I Need Help| What’s Your Advice?
