The assault occurred just hours after the state governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, had announced a new security initiative, declaring a “total war” against criminals in the region and offering amnesty to repentant offenders.
A disturbing video that quickly went viral on social media showed the lifeless body of the slain man still inside the vehicle, while the other passenger was forcefully abducted by the assailants. According to eyewitnesses from the Ifitedunu community vigilante, the attack took place around 8 p.m., with the gunmen reportedly chasing the victims from a nearby area before intercepting them in Ifitedunu.
A voice in the video suggested that the attackers, driving an ash-colored Lexus Jeep, had pursued the victims from a neighboring community. The items found inside the vehicle led locals to believe the men were returning home for the Christmas holidays.
The community vigilante members, who were among the first to arrive at the scene, appealed to anyone who recognized the vehicle or knew the victims to come forward.
As of the time of writing, the Anambra State Police Command had yet to issue a statement on the incident, and there were no immediate reports of any arrests.BREAKING NEWS| VIDEO GOES VIRAL NOW| HANDSOME MAN TATTOOS HIS GIRLFRIENDS NAME ON HIS FACE TO PROVE HIS LOVE FOR HER.
