Mathias Pogba voluntarily surrendered to the authorities during the investigation and was initially detained until December 2022. During this period, he was prohibited from contacting his brother Paul or their mother. Following the trial, Mathias was convicted of attempting to extort money from Paul, his family, and business contacts.
In addition to Mathias, five other individuals involved in the extortion scheme were found guilty of charges ranging from extortion and kidnapping to organized crime. These individuals received varying prison sentences, with the longest being eight years, and fines ranging from £16,500 to £33,000.
