A source within the Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) association, who requested to remain anonymous, confirmed this news to journalists on Saturday.

According to the source, petrol lifting at the refinery stopped on December 13, 2024. However, there is some optimism that production might resume on Monday, December 23, 2024.

“I can confirm that no petrol has been lifted from the plant since December 13. Tanker drivers are currently waiting at the 18-arm loading bay of the refinery, hopeful that lifting will resume on Monday,” the source stated.

Earlier, DAILY POST reached out to Olufemi Soneye, the spokesperson for the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), for comment on the situation, but there was no immediate response.

This development follows an announcement by NNPC on November 26, 2024, that petrol lifting operations had resumed at the Port Harcourt refinery, which had undergone a rehabilitation process costing $1.5 billion. The rehabilitation was approved in 2021, with hopes high for the refinery’s return to full capacity.

The news of the refinery’s reopening sparked mixed reactions. While many expressed optimism, others were skeptical. NNPC claimed that over 200 trucks had already loaded petrol from the facility. However, some conflicting reports surfaced, alleging that only 10 trucks were involved in the first round of lifting on the inauguration day.

Additionally, there were accusations that the petrol loaded on that day was not freshly refined but rather from old stocks.DO YOU LACK A HEALTHY $3X LIFE IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP AND MARRIAGE? WATCH & DOWNLOAD HOT $3X TRENDING V!DEOS HERE.

As the situation develops, the long-term viability of the Port Harcourt Refinery remains uncertain, with questions about its capacity to sustain operations beyond the initial reopening phase..Tap To Read The Full Story Here.
