The fake advertisement claims that Governor Otti has approved a ₦25,000 cash grant for Abia citizens, with a link provided for people to apply for the purported funds.
However, the Abia State government has swiftly disowned the advert, labeling those behind it as criminals. In a statement released on Friday, signed by Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Otti, the government clarified that the offer was a deliberate scam aimed at deceiving and defrauding the public.
Ukoha urged Abia residents to avoid falling victim to the fraudulent offer, assuring them that security agencies have been notified and are actively investigating the perpetrators. He also stressed that any legitimate social investment, welfare, or intervention programs launched by the state government would be officially published on the Abia State government’s website and other authorized channels.
In addition to addressing the scam, Governor Otti assured the people of Abia that his administration remains committed to implementing policies and initiatives designed to improve their welfare and quality of life.
