UTWEETS reports that the explosion occurred around noon on Monday, causing chaos and panic in the community. Emergency responders and police bomb disposal teams arrived promptly at the scene to manage the situation. The injured students were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Eyewitness accounts revealed that one of the deceased students was reportedly carrying a substance suspected to be an improvised explosive device (IED) when it detonated. The blast injured other students in the vicinity.
“The students involved were new admissions to the school, having resumed just three days earlier on January 3, 2025,” a source disclosed.
Authorities confirmed the incident, stating that the Divisional Police Officer mobilized operatives, including members of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit, to the site.
Preliminary investigations indicated that three visitors from Katsina State brought the explosive device to the school. Two of the visitors died in the blast, while the third sustained critical injuries and is currently receiving medical attention.
The police have arrested the school’s owner, Adamu Ashimu, for questioning. “The interrogation will uncover further details, and the findings will be communicated,” a police spokesperson stated.
The explosion has left the Kuchibiyu Community in shock and mourning.
