Speaking in an interview with News Central on Thursday, March 27, Omokri—who has repeatedly criticized Obi since his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Labour Party—revealed that he vowed to use all available political resources to counter the Obidient Movement.
According to him, members of the movement allegedly threatened his family, who currently reside in the United Kingdom.
“I took a vow to destroy that movement because Peter Obi was a project of mine,” Omokri stated. “Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, a former president, and I were tasked with promoting Obi because we believed he was a strong candidate. He put me on speakerphone, spoke to someone in the background, then told me he couldn’t condemn that person directly but would issue a general statement,” Omokri recounted. “That meant he knew who was behind the threats.”
He added that after repeated appeals to Obi to rein in his supporters failed, he decided to take action.
“When I saw that Obi would not control this violent, thuggish movement, I made the decision to use whatever political influence I have to dismantle it,” he concluded…CONTINUE READING>>
