During a Monday night interview on Channels Television, Fayose stirred controversy by attributing Nigeria’s underdevelopment to the high birth rates in the northern region. He claimed that the federal government’s inability to develop the country was due to northerners marrying multiple wives and having many children, creating a significant burden on the government.

“The reason why it is difficult for Tinubu to develop Nigeria is because northerners are giving birth to children they can’t cater for,” Fayose said.

In a post on his official X handle on Tuesday, Sani criticized Fayose’s remarks, calling them abhorrent and urging him to apologize to northerners.
