The gathering, held behind closed doors, included notable governors such as Hope Uzodimma (Imo), Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq (Kwara), Uba Sani (Kaduna), Usman Ododo (Kogi), and Dapo Abiodun (Ogun). Also in attendance were Adams Oshiomhole, senator representing Edo North, and Edo Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu.
Okpebholo’s victory in the September 21 governorship election, declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), remains a point of contention.
The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed dissatisfaction with the election’s outcome, alleging that irregularities marred the process.
Despite the controversy, Okpebholo and his supporters received a warm reception at Aso Rock.
“This meeting reaffirms the APC’s commitment to strong governance in Edo State,” Ganduje said while introducing the new governor-elect to Tinubu. The President is expected to work closely with Okpebholo, whose leadership will be crucial in advancing APC’s agenda in Edo.
