His post was in reaction to the brutal mob killing of 16 individuals in Uromi, Edo State, and the relative silence that followed a deadly attack in Bokkos, Plateau State, where five people were killed and 18 others hospitalized.

In his post, Sani wrote, “We were all united in condemning the killing in Edo but in Bokkos many seem to have kept quiet.Extra judicial killings and genocide are evil crimes that must be unreservedly condemned without any form of excuses, rationalization or justification.Our selective outrage questions and stains our humanity, and is one of the viruses that undermines our unity.”

The senator’s statement comes amid rising concerns over mob justice and targeted killings in the country.

In the Edo incident, 16 men, reported to be hunters en route to Kano for the Eid-el-Fitr celebration, were accused of being kidnappers after local security personnel allegedly found homemade weapons in their vehicle.

What followed was a shocking act of mob violence: the men were beaten and set on fire, leading to widespread condemnation from various quarters.

However, Sani noted the stark contrast in public response to another deadly incident in Bokkos, Plateau State, where gunmen invaded five communities.

The attackers struck in broad daylight, beginning around 9 a.m., when they stormed Tamiso village while women were gathered for a Christian fellowship meeting at a local COCIN church.
