Sarah Beckstrom, one of the National Guard members, who was shot near the White House on Wednesday is dead.

President Donald Trump confirmed the death of the West Virginia National Guard member during a press briefing on Thursday.

An Afghanistan national, identified as Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29, had opened fire on two National Guard members close to the US capital.

In an update on Thursday, President Trump confirmed that Sarah Beckstrom “just passed away. She’s no longer with us. She’s looking down at us right now. Her parents are with her.”

The president described the victim as an “incredible person, outstanding in every single way.”

Trump also said that the shooting was a “terrorist attack”, criticizing the Joe Biden administration for enabling Afghans who worked with U.S. forces during the Afghanistan War to enter the U.S.
