Despite promising hope to Nigerians in 2023 after being elected to the highest office in the land, President Bola Tinubu has pleaded for “patience” as the country continues to grapple with a tough economic situation.

In his second Independence Day speech, Tinubu defended his economic reforms that have caused untold hardship on citizens, saying they were necessary to turn the country’s economic fortunes around.

He also insisted Nigeria was “winning the war” on the violence that has killed thousands in the north over recent years – a declaration that may seem far-fetched to some.
