Chaotic scenes as pro-Wike supporters prevent newly inaugurated chairmen from accessing the LG Secretariat

In the video that has generated several reactions, the pro-Wike group gathered at the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Secretariat, preventing the newly sworn-in council chairman from gaining entrance to the building.

Recall that on Sunday, October 6, Fubara swore in newly elected council chairmen of the 23 local government areas at a ceremony held at the Executive Council Chamber of the Government House in Port Harcourt, the state capital. They were issued certificates of return by the Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, Adolphus Enebeli.

With the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) not contesting in the polls, the Action Peoples Party won 22 out of 23 chairmanship positions, while the Action Alliance candidate won one seat.

Addressing the new chairmen at the swearing-in ceremony, Fubara urged them to emulate his approach to governance and to be patient and calculative.

“The peace of this state is too important to us. Everybody knows what they are planning, but please, I want to beg everyone to follow my approach. “At the right time, you will always win if you are patient and calculative.
