Governor Eno’s wife passed away after an undisclosed illness. The funeral service marked the end of a week-long series of events that brought together politicians and businessmen of various political affiliations.
Dignitaries present included the wife of the Vice President, Nana Shettima, who represented the presidency; former President Goodluck Jonathan; Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio and Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State.
Others in attendance were the governors of Bauchi State, Mohammed Bala, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, former Akwa Ibom Governor Udom Emmanuel, as well as ministers, clergymen, the Chief Justice of Akwa Ibom State Ekaette Obot, and Obong Umana Okon Umana, a former Minister of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.
Akpabio’s aide, Uduak Udo, was also present at the funeral. In a statement to the press, he mistakenly congratulated the governor on the passing of his wife.
He said, “Let me first of all congratulate His Excellency the Governor of the State over the demise of his dear lovely wife. I want to wish all of us a very happy stay today. May God bless you.
