This would mean that Seyi Tinubu would be following in his father’s footsteps, who served as a two-term governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007.
Apart from being politically respected, he has also gained a following among the youth who have pledged their support for his political aspirations.
The Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders (CONYL), the umbrella body of all the youth groups drawn across the six geopolitical zones, has reportedly endorsed Seyi Tinubu for Governor of Lagos State in 2027.
Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour, an architect by profession, is another strong candidate who may compete for the 2027 Lagos State governorship under the Labour Party ticket.
In 2023, GRV lost to the incumbent Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress (APC). While it is uncertain if GRV will run again, his supporters are eager to see him challenge other candidates for the governorship, including Seyi Tinubu.

However, some Nigerians are displeased with the speculation of Seyi Tinubu’s potential candidacy, as they are dissatisfied with the Tinubu family’s political legacy and their perceived failure to bring positive change to the country.
Some are questioning the Tinubu family’s continued involvement in politics, given that President Tinubu was a former governor of Lagos State, his wife, Oluremi Tinubu, also served as a senator from Lagos State, and now his son, Seyi Tinubu, is considering running for governor.
