Thomas Partey remained at right-back with Ben White shifted inside to cover for the suspended William Saliba. By the time Gabriel went off, it was Jakub Kiwior and Jurrien Timber trying to hold down the left. Shortly after, Timber went down with what appears to have been cramp. Miles Lewis-Skelly finished the game at full-back.
It was little surprise, then, when Mohamed Salah eventually equalised for Liverpool, who had started to dominate proceedings. Goals from Bukayo Saka and Mikel Merino either side of Virgil van Dijk’s header had put Arsenal ahead.

Physios – and Arsenal’s club doctor – were quick to treat Gabriel, helping him play on momentarily. The 26-year-old soon had to be helped off the field as he hobbled down the tunnel immediately.
Speaking after the game, Arteta couldn’t offer much good news. “I don’t know, but he could not run,” their head coach said. “I don’t know what happened.
“I don’t know if it’s the knee joint or the ankle. They’re assessing him now so [touches wood].”
Gabriel has since posted on Instagram, somewhat easing the fears over his fitness. “In everything give thanks [translated]… [raised hands and bicep emojis]” – he added to his story. Alongside an image of his leg on a raised cushion with what looks to be a compression sleeve, Gabriel is already doing his work to try and recover.
The story Gabriel posted on his Instagram.
Posting again to his story, Gabriel added: “We keep fighting together!! [red heart and clapping emojis].” With a picture of himself on the pitch shouting encouragement at his teammates, Gabriel appears to be in good spirits despite being unable to complete the match. ..ALSO READ FULL FROM SOURCE ↔️
