The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike, who disclosed this at Awka during interaction with select journalists, explained that the state government introduced technologically driven clock-in that provides data of workers attendance and performance.

According to Obidike, this was why most of the health workers received half of their salaries for the month of October, even as many might fall victims of that or worst in the future if they continued with such attitudes.

He added that the state governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has also approved recruitment of additional 500 health workers to operate across the 21 local government areas, including the ongoing renovation and equipping of general hospitals and primary health centres with blood bank hubs, 326 solar power system and other equipment.

The health commissioner, while dismissing the allegations that the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA) was folding up, announced that the agency had added prostrate problems, ovary related issues and others as parts of what applicants would enjoy for just N12,000 annual renewal fee.

“We are making government hospitals to become more operational with residents doctors, health workers and equipment. ASHIA is topnotch. It is very affordable yet delivers efficient health services. It is still N12,000 up-to-date and you can adopt someone. Over 8 States have come to learn how we are doing it. We have enrollees from both the formal and informal sectors, including tricycle and motorcycle operators,” he maintained.
