BREAKING: “Abure Remains National Chairman” – Labour Party Reacts to Supreme Court Judgment

Earlier, a five-man panel of the Supreme Court gave a unanimous judgment, ruling that the Court of Appeal did not have the authority to declare Abure as the party’s Chairman. The judges explained that leadership matters within a political party are internal issues, and courts should not interfere.

The court upheld an appeal by former senator Nenadi Usman and another party member.

However, shortly after the judgment, the Labour Party responded in a statement shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle. The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, said the court did not remove Abure as chairman.

The statement read: “The Supreme Court strikes out Nenadi and Abure suits, saying only political parties can determine who their leaders are.
