Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan versus Senate President Godwin Akpabio continued to draw intense media attention, this time for attention-grabbing headlines....CONTINUE READING THE ARTICLE FROM THE SOURCE>>>
The story about not begging the Senate appeared as other reports spoke of the concerted efforts by Lokoja and Abuja to engineer a citizen recall through falsehood. The Kogi State government reportedly lied to citizens about coming and registering for empowerment. They were to bring their NIN and voter’s cards. Curious citizens then found out it was a ruse to gather their data for the ambush against their senator. The citizens turned it into a protest march.
She responded to media narratives of a recall petition to INEC by Kogi Central citizens and voters against her. Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan stated: “The purported reports circulating that I have apologised to the Senate and retracted my position are untrue. I stand firmly by my words and actions, and I have not issued any apology to the Senate or anyone regarding this matter.
Unfortunately, some individuals are peddling falsehoods to distort the truth and mislead the public. I urge the public to disregard the reports. Any official statement from me will come through my verified channels.
I urge the public to disregard these rumours and publications as they do not represent my position. My commitment remains to truth, justice, and the people I represent. This is not just about me; it is about the integrity of our democracy. I will not be intimidated or forced into submission through false narratives. I appreciate the support and solidarity of our people. Rest assured, I will continue to fight for what is right and just.”
Charity Ijese Omole, leading her group from the Kogi Central Senatorial District, also told INEC on Monday that the group had secured adequate signatures to commence the recall process to bring Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan back from the Senate.
The Senate suspended Akpoti-Uduaghan for six months, the highest on record, with stiff conditions never heard of in the Senate’s history.
They revived the interest of the former governor in a renewed battle against her. Now, this group has procured signatures for her recall.
Mrs Omole described her group’s action as “the game is the game.” She elaborated: “We submitted the petition, and it has been received.
All other documents have been received. We are the ones who voted for her, and we don’t want her anymore because we cannot afford not to have a representative. Nobody is bankrolling us.
Nobody is having any personal issues with her. It is just what it is. The game is the game.”
