According to a source within the police, Abdulhakeem passed away on Thursday, though the exact cause of his death has not been determined. The suspect was recently paraded by the Niger State Commissioner of Police, Shawulu Ebenezer Danmama, as the main individual linked to the killing of Jagaba, who was stabbed to death at his block industry near the PDP Secretariat in Minna.
Before his death, Abdulhakeem reportedly confessed that he had been hired by certain employees of the late Jagaba to carry out the murder. A statement released by the Niger State Police spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed that the suspect had been suffering from severe stomach pains and a persistent cough before his death.
According to the police, on December 19, 2024, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Abdulhakeem complained of the pains and was immediately taken to the General Hospital in Minna for treatment. Unfortunately, he died while still under medical care. The police spokesperson noted that his body had been moved to the hospital morgue for a postmortem examination, which would provide further clarity on the cause of death.
This incident mirrors a similar case reported in Kwara State, where a 35-year-old man, Jimoh Abdulquadri, also died while in police custody. The Kwara State Police Command confirmed Abdulquadri’s death in a statement issued over the weekend, stating that an internal investigation was underway to understand the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Abdulquadri, a resident of Balogun Fulani in Ilorin, was arrested on December 19, 2024, over allegations of owing ₦220,000 to an individual named Peter. He died the following day, December 20, 2024, while still in police custody. His family, including his mother, Mrs. Adijat Moriyike, and his elder brother, Ismail, have accused the police of subjecting him to torture, claiming that he suffered a head injury from a hard object, and that blood was seen flowing from his nose. These allegations have prompted further scrutiny into police practices and calls for justice.BREAKING NEWS|TAP TO VIEW THE FULL V!DEO, FATHER ARRESTED FOR BEHE4DING HIS 1 YEAH OLD SON AND CAUSING INJURY TO HIS WIFE AND MOTHER IN-LAW.
