Governor Makinde made these remarks during the 2025 Annual Inter-faith Service for State Workers, which was attended by labour leaders, political appointees, community leaders, members of the judiciary, and traditional rulers.

Reflecting on the security challenges of 2024, Makinde acknowledged the difficulties faced, including fire incidents, armed robberies, and kidnappings. However, he emphasized that his administration would redouble its efforts in 2025 to tackle these issues head-on. “Even just this morning, during the security briefing, we received updates about a special operation currently underway. Quite a number of the wrongdoers from the major northwestern zone are relocating here. But we will locate them, and we will deal with them,” he stated.

In a personal revelation, the governor shared his experience of encountering bandits while visiting Fashola for his birthday. “Because of the stampede last year, I chose to go to Fashola, just to lay low for my birthday, and I can tell you that within less than perhaps one and a half kilometres from where I was sleeping, there were bandits with camps established there,” Makinde said.

He commended the efforts of security agencies in the state for their work in combating crime but emphasized the importance of community involvement in maintaining safety. Makinde urged traditional rulers and community leaders to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to security forces. “Nothing meaningful can occur in an atmosphere of insecurity. All the laudable things that we wish to achieve will not be possible if we don’t have a safe and secure environment,” he noted.

The governor further reiterated his commitment to ensuring that no criminal group gains a foothold in Oyo State. “I will not rest until every inch of Oyo State is free of bandits and wrongdoers,” he declared, urging residents to work together for the safety of the state.TOP NEWS TODAY!
