Disu cautioned the one-term Lagos governor, warning that any attempt could signal the end of his political career.
Akinwunmi Ambode’s tenure as governor of Lagos State was marked by controversy and intense battles with Bola Tinubu, the then-National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He served as governor from 2015 to 2019 and was eventually replaced by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu after losing the party’s primaries.
“One characteristic of politicians is that once they perceive you have a lot of money stashed away, they will come after you. They will push you. But in the end, you will be left on your own. If I were him, I would cut my losses. You’ve served for four years. Not everyone had that opportunity. Find something to do with the money you have and find peace within yourself,” Disu advised.
He added, “You have reconciled with party members. You have made peace with everyone. We know what we know. Move on. Don’t let them trap you. That’s my advice to him. Do not, and he knows me personally for always speaking my mind, because I remember what I told him the first time he entered the race.
