He emphasized the need for mercy over destruction, highlighting that those who oppose the children of God are already in grave danger.

Pastor Adeboye recalled biblical events where God turned the tables on the enemies of His people, demonstrating His might and protection. He cautioned believers, stating, “From now on, don’t pray for the destruction of your enemies. Pray that God will have mercy on them.”

He reminded the congregation of the biblical story of Saul, who was confronted by Jesus on the road to Damascus, questioning his persecution of believers. This analogy illustrated the seriousness of opposing God’s children.

The pastor further articulated that praying for the demise of one’s enemies could be counterproductive. He posed a thought-provoking question: “If you pray for God to kill all your enemies, who will be there to witness you enjoying the blessings?”

Instead, he encouraged believers to pray for the salvation of their adversaries, saying, “God, have mercy on all my enemies and save their souls.”

Pastor Adeboye concluded with a warning about the nature of God, stating, “Our God, though He is love, is also a consuming fire.” He then urged them to foster a spirit of compassion rather than vindictiveness, and to trust in God’s ultimate justice and mercy.
