BREAKING NEWS: Dakore Egbuson-Akande reveals why she switched from music to acting

Nollywood actress Dakore Egbuson-Akande has opened up about her decision to leave music behind and pursue a successful career in acting.

Known today for her prominent roles in Nigerian cinema, Dakore initially started out as a musician, with one of her songs titled ‘Don’t Make Me’.

In a recent interview, Dakore shared insights into her early days in the entertainment industry, revealing that her first passion was music.

“I started out as a musician. Some people don’t know that. I actually never even knew that I could act,” she said. “I always saw myself on stage, singing. Acting came as a bit of a surprise.”

Reflecting on her career shift, Dakore explained that while music was her initial calling, acting presented itself unexpectedly and fit naturally into her artistic pursuits.

“In my youthful naiveté, I was almost certain I would be a musician first, then a journalist, which is why I studied Mass Communication at university. But, as the saying goes, ‘man proposes, but God disposes.'”

She went on to describe how her childhood passion for performing, whether through music, dance, or public speaking, had always pointed her toward a career in the arts. “I felt very strongly that entertainment was my path, even when some family members and friends doubted its viability as a career.”

Dakore acknowledged that her journey wasn’t without challenges, as entertainment wasn’t considered a sustainable profession at the time.

“It was heart-breaking when people close to me didn’t believe in my path. But I followed the opportunities as they aligned with my sense of self and belief in God.”

Now, as a household name in Nollywood, Dakore takes pride in the growth of the Nigerian entertainment industry and the acceptance of careers in the arts.DO  YOU WANT TO SEE THE VIDEO OF THIS CONTENT? “It’s incredibly vindicating now that entertainment is a viable career option, and I’m grateful to have been part of changing that perception,” she concluded.▶For More READ THE FULL STORY▶▶
