In his opening remarks, Ambassador Tuggar reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to fostering a stronger and more resilient partnership with China. He highlighted the significance of the agreements reached during President Bola Tinubu’s visit to China in September 2024, where four Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed. Tuggar noted that these agreements are at various stages of implementation and remain central to Nigeria’s collaboration with China.

“This meeting reflects our dedication to building on the progress made during President Tinubu’s visit to China. We are committed to leveraging these agreements to achieve mutual growth and development in areas of shared interest,” Tuggar stated.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized that his visit to Nigeria, the first stop on his African tour this year, underscores China’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the country. He noted that the discussions build on deliberations from the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit held last year.
