Taiye raised concerns about the rising rate of illegal occupation of properties under the NHP, which is a federal initiative aimed at providing accessible, sustainable, and affordable housing for citizens. Recent assessments revealed that approximately 85% of housing units in Phases 1, 2, and 3 of the program have been forcefully taken over by unauthorized individuals.

“This alarming trend not only undermines the program’s intended purpose but also jeopardizes the dreams and aspirations of rightful beneficiaries,” Taiye stated.

To address this issue, the ministry has initiated measures to rectify the situation. These include reclaiming and processing illegally occupied properties to ensure they are allocated to legitimate subscribers. Taiye emphasized that the state government is actively preparing to hand over keys to rightful beneficiaries who have adhered to the program’s requirements.

“We are committed to addressing the illegal invasion of these properties. Robust law enforcement measures will be implemented to safeguard the houses, restore order, and ensure legitimate owners can reclaim their homes,” the commissioner added.

The ministry reaffirmed its dedication to promoting housing equity and empowering citizens through the NHP. Taiye stressed the importance of collaboration between the government and the people to protect the program’s integrity and ensure its objectives are realized.

“The state government will prioritize this issue and work with all stakeholders to implement effective solutions. Together, we can ensure the vision of accessible, sustainable, and affordable housing is fulfilled for all citizens of Kogi State,” he concluded.TOP SECRET FINALLY REVEALED| SEE WHY TINUBU IS EAGER TO IMPLEMENT THE TAX REFORM BILL IN NIGERIA.
