The 2010 Conviction
Olowookere’s ordeal garnered public attention after a viral interview with actress Biola Adebayo highlighted his parents’ claims of police misconduct. His father alleged that officers in Osun State wrongfully arrested him and demanded a bribe for his release. Their inability to pay reportedly led to his conviction and a death sentence.
Governor Adeleke’s Clemency
The governor’s pardon is part of his commitment to justice reform and reducing the prison population. Speaking about the pardons, Adeleke emphasized the need for fairness and rehabilitation in the justice system.
2025 Budget Signed into Law
In a separate development, Governor Adeleke signed Osun State’s ₦427 billion 2025 budget into law on Monday at the Exco Lounge, Governor’s Office.
