Spiritual leaders and community elders from his hometown, Ilobu, in Irepodun Local Government Area, are urging President Bola Tinubu’ s government and military authorities to release his body, hoping to conduct spiritual rites that could seek justice for his death.
Speaking with Sunday Tribune, prominent traditionalist Awopegba Ifagbemi expressed that the loss of Lagbaja has left the community deeply saddened. He explained that local spiritualists are prepared to perform traditional rites that, they believe, could potentially summon Lagbaja’ s spirit to seek vengeance upon any individuals involved in his untimely demise.
While Ifagbemi refrained from detailing the specific rituals, he confirmed that traditional leaders had already gathered to discuss the necessary steps to initiate these rites.
In agreement, a respected community leader, Alhaji Dauda Taofeek, echoed the sentiments of unnatural circumstances surrounding the death. He stressed that Lagbaja’ s passing has dealt a severe blow not only to their community but also to Osun State and the nation as a whole. Taofeek expressed confidence that those responsible for any foul play would face justice.
In his conversation with Sunday Tribune, Oba Olaniyan called the incident a ” generational disaster” and shared the community’ s sorrow over losing a beloved figure. He requested the Federal Government to release Lagbaja’ s body, hoping to honor him with a proper burial in his homeland.
” We are seriously bereaved. What happened was a generational disaster to us as a people, ” Oba Olaniyan remarked. He reflected on Lagbaja’ s dedication to the community’ s progress, describing the late general as someone deeply invested in Ilobu’ s development. ” He loved this community and was passionate about the development of this town, but what has happened reflects the supremacy of God, ” he added.
Oba Olaniyan concluded with words of comfort, encouraging the community to seek solace in faith. He prayed for strength for Lagbaja’ s family and the community, urging that Ilobu’ s trials would be alleviated and that God would grant peace to the late general’ s soul.
