Onyelabara won the Chinese category of the event and bagged a N500,000 prize money.
Speaking to journalists after the competition held at the China Cultural Centre in Abuja, the Nigerian said she worked hard to come top.
“I came first in the first round and then I was called again for the finals. I started this week to practice the song I performed today (Saturday).
“I didn’t even expect that I’m going to win the first round. So I’m so excited,” she said.
The Nigerian said she had prepared all her life for her day of glory, adding: “My journey started from University, where I studied business education, but at the same time, I also did Chinese language on the side. And after which, I had an opportunity of going to China. I got this Chinese scholarship. I went to China where I did my masters in Chinese.”
Glory Livingston and Yang Xin won N300,0000 each for coming second in the Chinese category while Yang Fan, Zhang Ji and Deng Xiu Yuan pocketed N200,000 each for coming third.
In the English Category, Tan Jian came first and got N500,000. Guan Xin and Wang Jia Yi won the second position (N300,000) while Chen Jun, Li Wei and Qiu Liu Liu came third and took home a N200,000 cash prize each.
