Monguno said emergencies and disasters were surely coming, considering the climate change situation, noting that their occurrence and frequencies were becoming more worrisome.
He stated this on Thursday during the commemoration of the 2024 International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction in Maiduguri.
Monguno said, “What we need to do is to prepare for it and this early warning strategy that we teach people how to cope to mitigate these emergencies is what we will continue to preach and this is what we have been doing for the past 14 years.
“So far, since inception as a centre. We have been able to train over 1,000 students with professional masters in disaster risk management, and 111 students at the postgraduate diploma level, so together, we are talking of nearly 1,200 at the postgraduate level that we have been able to train.”
