In an interview with Deutsche Welle (DW) Hausa service, Ndume recalled how he was suspended from the 8th Senate and later removed as Chief Whip in the 10th Senate after speaking out. He revealed that during the 8th Senate, he was not only removed from his leadership position but also suspended for eight months without salary.
Ndume expressed his frustration, stating, “I was removed as Senate leader and later suspended for eight months without salary. It riled me up because we played a crucial role in the emergence of Saraki (as Senate President), but he betrayed me.” He added that his recent removal as Chief Whip came about because of his outspoken stance on various issues, but he insisted that these events are now behind him. He reflected on the situation, stating, “Allah in his mercy is avenging the betrayal.”
The lawmaker also voiced concerns about the state of democracy in the country, lamenting the inability to improve the lives of the poor despite his ongoing efforts.
