BREAKING NEWS: Sokoto District Head Resigns To Join Lamido

The district head of Sabon Birni in Sabon Birni local government area of Sokoto State, Alhaji Abdullahi Muhammad Bawa, has resigned. Bawa is the first traditional ruler that has so far announced his resignation since the eruption of crisis within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State.

The internal crisis that became pronounced about two weeks ago, is between Senator Ibrahim Lamido and Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.

Wamakko, a former governor of the state, is considered the overall leader of the party in the state and godfather of the state governor, Ahmed Aliyu.

The crisis has torn the APC into two factions with Wamakko and Lamido heading the factions.

Spokesman of the Lamido-led faction, Hon. Sani Yakubu Gudu, the member representing Tangaza/Gudu federal constituency, alleged that several serving commissioners, special advisers and other political appointees under Governor Aliyu were secretly supporting the Lamido-led faction.

The faction recently threatened to formed a parallel leadership of the APC in the state, alleging that the party was currently on the verge of collapse in the hands of Sen. Wamakko and Governor Aliyu.

However, the state chairman of the party, Alhaji Isa Sadiq Achida, accused the Lamido led faction of sabotaging the incumbent government in the state.

Achida said, “These politicians are losers. They have lost relevance in politics in Sokoto State and now want to create confusion in the state. As far as we are concerned, the APC is one entity in Sokoto and we will not allow anybody to create division in the state.
