Sources revealed that the attackers initially kidnapped Yunusa’s wife, but he confronted them and successfully secured her release. Unfortunately, the assailants later returned, overpowered Yunusa, and killed him.
Amotekun Confirms Incident
Chief Adetunji Adeleye, the Commander of the Ondo State security outfit, Amotekun, confirmed the incident. He disclosed that Yunusa was ambushed by individuals believed to be fellow Fulani herdsmen who attempted to steal his cattle.
Adeleye stated:
“They had earlier kidnapped his wife, but he fought them off and retrieved her. Unfortunately, they returned, overpowered him, and killed him while attempting to steal his cows.”
Distress Call and Investigation
The attack came to light when other herdsmen discovered Yunusa’s lifeless body and sent a distress signal to the Amotekun Corps’ Ogbese outpost. Upon arrival at the scene, Amotekun officers found Yunusa’s body with multiple machete wounds.
In addition to the killing, the attackers reportedly set Yunusa’s motorcycle ablaze, further compounding the brutality of the crime.
Adeleye assured the public that efforts are underway to track and apprehend the perpetrators. “Amotekun officers are combing the forest in search of those responsible for this heinous act,” he stated.
